ORIGINAL WORKS BY KATIA

an island painted in joy

Every wall inside the shop is a canvas. Katia's paintings — abstract mosaics of Caribbean light, water and vegetation — turn the space into a working gallery where a scoop of gelato comes with a view worth lingering over.

MEET THE ARTIST

katia's canvas

Born in Italy into a family of musicians and artists, Katia studied illustration at the School of Visual Art in New York and oil technique at the New York Academy of Art. Her large-format canvases turn reflections in water and tangled vegetation into abstract mosaics of color and light.

In 2016 she moved with Giovanni to St. John, and the island — its trees, its harbors, its wild bougainvillea — became her subject. Since 2021 she keeps her own gallery in Cruz Bay, and a rotating selection of her work lives here on our walls.

"I invite the viewer to feel gratitude and joy toward life and nature — in the hidden dimension between form and space, light and shade."
